Preface.

The article discusses various reports published within the issue, including one on a real-world two-dimensional guillotine cutting stock problem which cuts out buns in a cake production environment, another on a novel non-linear optimization-based approach to the minimal area rectangular packing problem, as well as a report on testing two genetic algorithms inspired by molecular genetics on two packing problems.
