Abstract
- The article discusses a study that compares grid coding versus place coding for navigation using spiking neurons. It presents two different interpretations of the grid population code, which include an effective way of subdividing space with high resolution and modular arithmetic. It investigates that spatial resolution of both codes on a limited, one-dimensional space with a finite amount of cells and families of tuning curves.
