Abstract

The article discusses a study on the quality of care and clinical outcomes in patients newly diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) admitted for remission induction chemotherapy during the weekend as compared to those who were admitted on weekdays. The study included AML patients admitted to the Cleveland Clinic Leukemia Service from 1994 to 2008 for remission induction chemotherapy. It concludes that AML patients admitted in large, teaching referral hospitals on weekend had the same clinical outcomes with patients admitted on weekdays.
