Abstract

The article presents a study conducted to examine the measurement of the thermal conductivity through Raman spectroscopy. It states that sliding wear of silicon carbide (SiC) under water lubrication leads to chemical and structural degradation of the ceramic material. It also states that the continuous sliding and reiterated contact of asperity peaks increases the temperature and pressure which leads to hydrothermal reactions at the friction interface.
