Abstract

The author reports that under the British coalition government's "Liberating the NHS" plan, family doctors will control purchasing services from acute, mental health and community providers in the National Health Service (NHS). The author reports that nursing leaders suggest that the government plan may marginalise the nursing profession's input in service commissioning. INSET: Mixed reaction to NHS restructuring.
