Abstract

The author discusses the career of American painter Millard Sheets. Born in Pomona, California, he was educated at Chouinard School of Art in Los Angeles, California from 1925 to 1929 and became a professor at California-based Scripps College even without a college degree. Aside from working on architectural and mural artworks, he usually paints exhibition pictures in watercolor. Most of his paintings have been acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
