Abstract

The article focuses on the work and artistic style of U.S. illustrator Leslie Saalburg. It explains that Saalburg's artistic process starts with an on-the-spot sketch of the subject and drawing relevant details. The sketch is then taken to his studio where it is laid out in the required size, traced on an overlay of tracing paper, transferred to the final illustration sheet and then color is applied. The author observes that Saalburg works with exact detail and his drawings are always carefully planned.
