Abstract

The article highlights developments in the field of graphic arts in France. The book "Caractere," art directed by Maximilien Vox offers information on advances in French typography. The author notes that the printed letter in France was used with gravity and looked suspended in air. The popularity of typography in posters, books and newspapers started to emerge in 1920. The pamphlet "Peignot," by A. M. Cassandre is one example of general resistance of France to accept unconventional alphabets.
