Abstract
- The article features McCann-Erickson & Co. creative director Jack Tinker who was recognized as the Art Director of the Year by the National Society of Art Directors in 1952. The author states that one of the achievements of the illustrator is his creation of Mister Friendly, a drawing of an early-middle-aged insurance man complete with a briefcase and umbrella. According to him, the figure is a helpful symbol to convince clients that an insurance firm is also willing to pay and has a warm heart.
