Abstract

The article profiles U.S. artist Gladys Rockmore Davis. Five years after her graduation from the Art Institute of Chicago, Gladys married the advertising artist and illustrator Floyd M. Davis in 1925. The Davises toured Europe and the visits to the Renoir home and studio leave a lasting impression on the work of Mrs. Davis. She took up her brushes in Cannes, and after several months, decided to attend the Art Students League of New York. After several months of studying art and painting with the league, she studied with George Grosz.
