Abstract

The article discusses the notion of distortion in art. It cites the two divisions in understanding of what is meant by "art." One group thinks that art is illustration of literal representation of things with a modicum of imagination and without distortion. To the other group art is primarily concerned with expressiveness and it originates from man's desire to express himself. The first group is not comfortable with what they see as distortion in modern art, while the later group is happy with novelty and abstraction.
