Abstract

The article discusses the use of planning models in industry. The author believes while they may be useful in establishing a plan, they do not create plans in and of themselves. Among corporations in the United States, Canada, and Europe highlighted in a survey by Thomas Naylor and Horst Schauland in 1976, he focuses on the planning model of Anheuser-Busch. According to the author, Anheuser-Busch's planning model is by no means its only method of decision-making. It is a tool utilized to make estimations of potential costs and gains. He contends that problems can be approached in three different ways, by resolving them, solving them, or dissolving them. He also highlights three methods of deal with crisis management; a clinical approach, a research approach, and a design approach.
