Abstract

The article offers information on the adoption of building information modeling (BIM) at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago in Illinois. The 1.25-million-square-foot hospital has a height of 457 feet but was construction on just 1.8 acres of land. The BIM process involves the use of laser scanners, which produce point cloud diagrams used to compare BIMs to actual construction. The project is handled by Power Construction Co. and M.A. Mortenson Co.
