Abstract

The article discusses the significance of medieval aquamanilia in the form of lions with Hebrew inscriptions to be used in the Church liturgy by Jews. It offers information on the structure of medieval aquamanilia where they are made to stand erect with a spout for pouring water extending from the mouth and an opening at the top of the head for filling the vessel. Photographs of several Lion aquamanile are presented with details on Hebrew inscriptions, image, and rib cage.
