Abstract
- Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) is a cost effective approach for the protection of sensitive consumers from voltage sags. Voltage sags always happen in a few times and are related with short circuit events and starting motors which needs high lagging current. Implementations of the DVR at a Medium Voltage (MV) level give an opportunity, to protect large sensitive loads from voltage sags. The control of DVR with Sliding Mode Control (SMC) method makes it multi-purpose for the compensation of the voltage sag, swell, flicker and harmonics. In this paper, the minimum energy injection concept has been used for restoration during DVR compensation. Analysis and simulation using MATLAB has been shown that the voltage is perfectly controlled across the critical load. The simulation results have been compared with the experimental results, which verify the capabilities of the proposed control method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
