Reconstructing the History of Yeast Genomes.

In this article, the author discusses the study on gene gains, losses and rearrangements on the evolutionary route of Saccharomyces cerevisiae genomes by Gordon and colleagues. He notes that the authors chose a manual approach to reconstruct the ancestral genomes despite the availability of rapid algorithms. He says that numerous of the structural analyses could be repeated for all data species to permit assessment of the quantitative parallels and differences across the phylogenetic domain.
