Abstract

The article features charcoal painter Douglas Graves. Such artist's approach to painting is said to be tonal, which he learned from art teacher William Mosby while he was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Graves has been known for his figure drawings and believes that figure drawing is the heartbeat of all artwork.
