Abstract
- The article examines the state of the caste system in India. Further acceleration of these systems is expected with the introduction of the caste-based Census 2011, supported by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Despite modernization efforts in the country started by Jawaharlal Nehru, several parts of the country are still governed by the caste system.
