Abstract
- The article presents research of Jill A. Ohar and team to assess the role of macrophage scavenger receptor-1 (MSR1) gene sequence variation in chronic pulmonary disease (COPD) of patients in the U.S. Researchers assessed smokers more than 40 years old and found that macrophages play an vital role in regulating pulmonary inflammation and parenchymal destruction with COPD. Moreover, they found that MSR1 is associated with COPD susceptibility.
