Credit: Debt Collection.

A chapter from the book "New Hampshire Consumer's Sourcebook," third edition, is presented. The chapter focuses on two laws governing debt collection practices, namely, the Unfair, Deceptive or Unreasonable Collection Practices Act of New Hampshire and the U.S. Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). It notes that both laws prohibit debt collectors from involving in certain practices, and provide some protection to debtors during the process of debt collection. Also mentioned is the most important difference between the two laws.
