THE LANCET RETRACTS THE MMR PAPER.

The article reports on the move by "The Lancet" journal to retract on February 2, 2010 the article "Illeal-Lymphoid-Nodular Hyperplasia, Non-Specific Colitis, and Pervasive Development Disorder in Children" by Andrew Whitfield et al published in its 1998 issue. The paper proposed a link between the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism. As a result, vaccination in Great Britain declined significantly and cases of measles and mumps rose. Whitfield did not disclose that he was paid by a group of solicitors seeking evidence against vaccine makers.
