Abstract

The article focuses the criteria to determine a convenient food. The "added value" is reflected in a higher retail price for an equivalent amount of products. Several criteria that can be considered in determining products' added value are discussed, including value added by manufacture and time or effort saved by the manufacturer's processes. United States Federal Trade Commission estimations of the annual sales of products termed "convenient foods" are presented, as well as annual sales and rate of growth.
