Abstract
- The article presents an analysis of the representation of normal and inappropriate children's play in British children's literature from the late 18th century to the early 20th century. It states that play is categorized as constructive and imaginary, and is seen in socialization and child labor. It also explores the manifestation of play in various literary works including "The Secret Garden," by Frances Hodgson Burnett and "The Treasure Seekers," by E. Nesbit.
