Abstract

The article reports that the Vintage Locomotive Society in Winnipeg, Manitoba is responsible for the success of the Prairie Dog Central Railway. It reports that volunteers fireman Paul Newsome along with others are responsible for the success of the Winnipeg tourist railroad. Newsome was intrigued by steam railroading. In June 1987, he became the first steam locomotive engineer to be qualified on the prairies since Steam quit running in early 1960.
