Abstract

The article presents a study on the efficacy of direct DNA sequencing analysis for detecting drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) on sputum specimens. The study uses 113 sputum samples from 111 patients, allegedly having drug-resistant TB, for DNA sequencing and compares its results. It also analyzes anti-TB drugs optimization based on DNA sequencing and patient treatment results. It concludes that direct DNA sequencing analysis of sputum specimens is useful to detect and treat drug-resistant TB.
