Abstract
- The article describes the scalar patterns, melodic shapes, articulation devices and other techniques essential to the style of legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads, who has established a standard guitar playing that still holds in the contemporary period despite his death in 1982. It points out that minor pentatonic scale was staple to his solo improvisations and Rhoads would often combine elements of minor pentatonic, the blues scale and minor modes in his solos. Tips for doing the repeated triplet technique, one of Rhoads' favorites, are offered.
