Abstract

The article presents information on the fringe festival and an International Association for Medical Education (AMEE) Fringe. The concept of fringe festival originated in the Edinburgh International Festival in 1947 when some uninvited acts proceeded to perform on the fringe of the official festival. The AMEE Fringe started in 2003. The AMEE organizers set some principles for the event which included that the presenters and performers must address issues and themes related to medical education and the formats to be used must be other than the official format. The fringe concept has develped association with political conferences and arts festivals worldwide. The AMEE Fringe has done 46 presentations in 12 sessions till date. It also lists the participants who performed in AMEE Fringes.
