Abstract

The article offers information on a study which identified the relationship between reduced glomerular filtration rate (GFR), proteinuria and adverse clinical outcomes. The study conducted between 2002 and 2007 involved participants from a province-wide laboratory registry in Alberta. To determine proteinuria, researchers employed urine dipstick or albumin-creatinine ratio (ACR). Primary outcome measures include all-cause mortality, myocardial infarction and progression to kidney failure. Presented in details are the research findings.
