Effects of Bio-Mos® on Growth and Survival of Channel Catfish Challenged with Edwardsiella ictaluri.

The article examines whether feeding yeast-derived mannans in the form of Bio-Mos could improve growth, feed efficiency, and improve resistance of channel catfish challenged with Edwardsiella ictaluri (E. ictaluri). E. ictaluri is a bacterium that causes enteric septicemia of catfish. The results show that the addition of Bio-Mos to catfish diet does not improve weight gain, but may improve resistance to E. ictaluri.
