Abstract

The article presents a study which evaluates the association of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptors VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2 with sarcoidosis. Spectrometry-based single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) genotyping and peripheral blood sampling were performed to 300 white patients with sarcoidosis and 381 matched controlled subjects. It was found out that VEGF and its receptors are involved in the onset of sarcoidosis and affects its course.
