INVITED COMMENTARY.

The authors express views on a paper on First Nations children in foster care in Canada by professor Cindy Blackstock that was published within the issue. They note the similarity of the description and analysis of the context and experiences of Canadian First Nations children with those of indigenous children in Australia. They note that based on Australian findings, the possible reason why most Aboriginal children are in out-of-home-care (OOHC) is child neglect. They stress the failure of the previous Australian government to address such issues.
