Abstract
- The article discusses employee codetermination and industrial policy in the German steel industry and how these business aspects have affected the behavior of labor unions, managers and employees. There is a historical partnership between unions and managers in decision-making processes that is appealing beyond this industry and has been looked at by other countries as a realistic alternative. The author also explains that one of the drawbacks of this system is that managers and employees begin to rely more on federal subsidies.
