Social Work with Adults with Disabilities: An International Perspective.

The author compares the provision of social services to adults with disabilities in developed and developing countries. Research indicates that disabled people in Great Britain, Germany and other countries tend to experience poverty more frequently than non-disabled people despite changes in legislation, social policy and social work practice. The author emphasizes the existence of gaps between legislation and the everyday experiences of disabled people and between theory and professional practice in social work.
