Abstract

The article presents a study which provides details on the biochemical and histopathological effects of dietary cholesterol oxidation products (COPs) in rats. This study involves feeding of standard rat chow to the rats and determining the serum lipid profile after the treatment period. It concludes that the organ original structure, the inflammatory process, the atherogenesis and atrophy of the tissue are modified by the CPOs that were detected in the liver and kidneys of the rats.
