The article discusses anti-globalization tendencies to counter homogenization of global goods, services, and culture. Trends include localization of products and consumer organizational initiatives not to become passive victims of global marketing. Local cultural communities are said to be acting in an era of post-developmentalism toward communitarianism, by which internal local development is preserved in part insulated by high tariffs on foreign goods.
