Abstract

The article focuses on regional disparities between mortgage markets within the United States in the 1960s. The economic conditions of isolation between regions manifesting mortgage capital availabilities and shortages are described. The theoretical establishment of equilibrium through interregional lending mobility is discussed and questions are raised addressing why such behaviors have not occurred. Specific research is offered regarding life insurance company policies and attitudes regarding regional practices and profit-seeking objectives.
