MATHEMATICS FOR SCHOOLS, a City and Guilds Occasional Paper (Book).

The article presents information on the book "Mathematics for Schools." In November 1978 a Committee of Enquiry was set up by the DES to look into the teaching of mathematics in schools. The Institute's evidence was submitted in February 1979 and is presented in this paper under the topic headings as requested by the Committee, the basic computational skills of school children, the supply and training of those who teach mathematics, and others.
