Abstract

The article reports on the submarine cable outages in Taiwan in September 2009. Pacnet's Wilfred Kwan said that the damages caused by the outages were as bad as that of the earthquake that hit southern Taiwan in 2006, causing a slowdown on mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan Internet access, but have no serious disruptions. Pacnet's regional cables, East Asia Crossing (EAC) and C2C, have been cut.
