The United States and East Asia: Editors' Overview.

The authors reflect on the institutional framework of the economy of the U.S. and East Asia. They argue that in the setting of domestic political infighting over the reform for health care, the economic policy of U.S. President Barack Obama's administration could reflect tactical and not strategic conditions. A summary of the papers presented at the Eighth Asian Economic Policy Review Conference is also provided.
