Abstract

The article reports on the results of research which was conducted in an effort to determine whether constraint-induced movement therapy, which has been proven to be effective in improving arm and hand use in children with cerebral palsy, is supported by valid research. Researchers evaluated studies on the therapy that were contained in several medical databases. They found that the studies varied widely in type and rigor of design, subject, constraint, intervention characteristics and level for outcome measures and that additional research should be conducted to evaluate whether the therapy is truly effective.
