Abstract
- The article presents information on the use of plastics in food packaging in Canada. A 2008 study by research firm Boustead and Associates shows that the paper bags and compostable plastic bags used more energy, water and fossil fuel than traditional polyethylene plastic bags. It is stated that presently, plastic packaging accounts for an estimated 10 percent of the Canadian household waste stream.
