Abstract
- The article reports on 10 CFR Part 431, Energy Conservation Program for Commercial Equipment, Distribution Transformers Energy Conservation Standards: Final Rule introduced by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) which requires efficiency standards of distribution transformers on October 12, 2007. It notes that a distribution transformer has 60 hertz operation rating. According to engineer Larry Spielvogel, the DOE mandate on copper use decreases transformer efficiency.
