Abstract

The article presents a report on a man who was infected with rabies on November 24, 2008 in Missouri. Upon suspicion of the Missouri State Public Health Laboratory of a possible rabies infection, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was notified of the situation. It was found that the man was infected with a rabies virus variant associated with silver-haired bats. In spite of treatment using the Milwaukee protocol, the man died on November 30, 2009.
