Abstract
- The article discusses current issues on the political and economic environment in Saudi Arabia. King Abdullah's visit to Syria on October 7 and 8, 2009 opened opportunities for the two countries to enhance their economic and commercial ties. Riots in the eastern city of Khobar brought damages to Western food outlets. The King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), a flagship graduate research university, has been opened.
