Abstract
- The article presents a prospective cohort study which investigated the impact of mid-life adiposity on the overall health status among women who survived premature death and lived to older ages. It notes that adiposity is a known risk factor for premature death and multiple chronic diseases. The study involved 17065 women from the U.S. whom disease status, cognitive and physical functioning, and mental health were determined at age 70 or older. Findings showed that about 9.9% of the study population met the criteria for healthy survival.
