Abstract

The article focuses on the regulation of electronic commerce (e-commerce) in Canada. Due to the expectation that business-to-government connections will encourage more e-commerce, the government has invested heavily in its electronic infrastructure. Data from Statistics Canada showed an increase in online sales and private- and public-sector Internet sales. Wholesales trade, manufacturing and retail trade were among the sectors which accounted for the majority of the value of online sales in 2007. Restrictions on foreign investment are also noted.
