Abstract

The article discusses studies that support the fact that tamarins can understand basic English grammar. Previously, cotton-top tamarins have been found to understand basic grammar, such as identifying which words logically follow others in a sentence. A study, led by Harvard University linguist Ansgar Endress, suggests tamarins can comprehend at least one advanced concept: prefixes and suffixes.
