Abstract

The article discusses the factors which catalyzed the collapse of the Soviet Union. It states that factors including deteriorating trade terms, low levels of productivity in industries, low priced commodities during the 1980s apart from repeated East European rebellions, and political unrest related to ethnic Russians, led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. The article further discusses the role of Western Countries in its collapse, describing it to be more biased towards the crisis.
