Grant Provides Support for the Development of a Music Notation Data Model.

Abstract

The article reports that the University of Virginia Library and the University of Paderborn have received a grant jointly funded by the U.S. National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the German Research Foundation for the purpose of developing a music notation data model and encoding scheme. The scope of the encoding scheme includes textual variants, and the historical and cultural contexts of a composition. The grant, which is worth 77,065 U.S. dollars will, also support two related workshops.
