Abstract

The article presents chapter 7 of the book "The House of Lords in the Age of George III (1760-1811),” by Michael W. McCahill, discussing the political dynamics of the British House of Lords between 1780 to 1784. Discussion is particularly given surrounding the events of the coalition government of Lord North and Foreign Secretary Charles James Fox, the deteriorating British position surrounding the U.S. Revolutionary War, and legislation concerning the management of the British East India Company. The events and political alliances behind each of the issues are addressed in turn, highlighting their impact on the political influence of King George III.
